Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series: Kyle Busch wins at Texas
Kyle Busch finally scored his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win of the season, in the seventh round of the year at Texas Motor Speedway. Busch parked his #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry into the Victory Lane after winning the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 by holding off Kevin Harvick in the #4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Fusion.
It’s the third victory for Busch at Texas Motor Speedway and his 44th Cup Series win in a career. He’s now tied with Bill Elliott for 16th on the all-time list.
After a final restart on Lap 312 of 334, Busch and Harvick played chase to the checkered flag and Busch crossed the finish line 0.300 seconds ahead of Harvick. Busch led for 116 laps during the race, Harvick was in the lead for 87 laps.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Erik Jones led for 64 laps, finishing in the fourth place, behind Jamie McMurray (Chip Ganassi Racing). Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney rounded the top 5. Joey Logano, pole winner Kurt Busch, Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr., Clint Bowyer and William Byron completed the top 10.

In the championship standings, Busch expanded his lead to 38 points over second-place Logano. Blaney is 51 points back in third. The next race is the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 15.
