Three in a row for Kyle Buschhe won at Richmond Raceway
Kyle Busch is on a charge. The driver of the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Camry took the third consecutive victory in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series by winning the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway on Saturday. It’s his 46th Cup Series victory in a career and fifth victory at the 0.75-mile short track.
Busch started 32nd on the grid. Pit stops were a crucial for Busch’s victory, especially two late pit stops under caution on Lap 370 and on Lap 391. He beat Chase Elliott to the checkered flag in overtime. Elliott finished second for the eighth time in his career, improving from seventh to second over a succession of restarts.
Denny Hamlin finished third, followed by Joey Logano, who won both the first and second stages. Kevin Harvick finished fifth, overcoming a penalty when one of his crewmen threw pit equipment across his car during a stop under caution at the end of Stage 1.
