Martin Truex Jr showed masterful performance at Kentucky Speedway
The reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr showed a masterful performance on Saturday evening at the Kentucky Speedway by winning the Quaker State 400 race after starting from pole and winning all three stages in the #78 Furniture Row Toyota Camry.
In the 267-lap race, Truex led 174 laps before scoring his fourth win of the season and 19th Cup Series victory in a career. Truex has won at Kentucky Speedway in a similar way as the year before when he also won all three stages after starting from the front row.
Truex crossed the finish line 1.901 seconds ahead of Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney in the #12 Ford Fusion. His teammate Brad Keselowski finished third in the #2 Ford. The top 10 positions were taken by Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch, Erik Jones, Aric Almirola, Kyle Larson and Joey Logano.
In the championship, Kyle Busch retains a 59-point lead over Kevin Harvick. Truex remains third in the standings, trailing Harvick by eight points. The next race of the Cup Series is the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, scheduled for Sunday, July 22 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
