Kevin Harvick beats reigning champion for his fifth win in 2018
Kevin Harvick is on a charge again in the #4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Fusion. After three consecutive NASCAR Cup Series wins earlier this season, he scored his second win in a row on Saturday evening at Kansas Speedway, his fifth win in twelve races in 2018 and 42nd Cup Series win in a career.
Harvick took over the lead from the reigning champion Martin Truex Jr. on the penultimate lap of the KC Masterpiece 400, beating him on the finish line by 0.390 seconds. The victory was Harvick’s third at Kansas Speedway’s 1.5-mile track.
Joey Logano finished third, followed by Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin. Earlier in the race, Larson won the second stage and led a race-high 101 laps. Harvick was in the lead for 79 laps.
Paul Menard, Erik Jones, Kurt Busch, Aric Almirola and Kyle Busch completed the top 10. Kyle Busch retained the series lead by 12 points over Logano in second place and 19 over Harvick in third.

The next event on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series calendar is the All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 19. The Coca-Cola 600 on the same track will follow on May 27.
