Team Penske’s Joey Logano breaks a year-long drought and brings his #22 Ford Fusion to the Victory Lane at Talladega Superspeedway by winning the GEICO 500, the tenth race of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. It’s the 19th career victory for Logano in the Cup Series. He previously won at Talladega two times in autumn race but this is his first triumph in Geico 500.

Logano led for 70 of 188 laps before he beat Kurt Busch at the finish line by 0.127 seconds. Logano was controlling the race by leading the last 42 laps. The final caution of the day, caused by a 14-car wreck on lap 166, didn’t interrupt his victorious run.

Logano extended Ford’s winning streak at Talladega to six races. On Sunday, Ford drivers claimed six of the top seven positions. Chase Elliott brings his #9 Chevrolet to the third place, followed by Ford drivers Kevin Harvick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., David Ragan and Aric Almirola. Alex Bowman (Chevrolet), Ryan Newman (Chevrolet) and Daniel Suarez (Toyota) completed the top 10.

The next Cup Series race is the AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover International Speedway, scheduled for May 6.
