IMSA: First victory for CORE Autosport in the premium class
CORE Autosport scored its first victory in the premier class of the IMSA SportsCar Championship in Sunday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Colin Braun and Jon Bennett won the race in the #54 Oreca LMP2 prototype, completing 116 laps and beating the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing’s Cadillac DPi of Jordan Taylor and Renger van der Zande by 3.431 seconds. Action Express Racing’s Felipe Nasr and Eric Curran finished in the third place in the #31 Wheelen Engineering Cadillac.
The GTLM class victory went to Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe in the #67 Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ford GT. They defeated Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia by 4.879 seconds. Another Chevrolet Racing’s crew completed the podium, with Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin taking the third place.
The GTD class winners are Jeroen Bleekemolen and Ben Keating in the #33 Riley Motorsports’ Mercedes-AMG GT3. Kyle Marcelli brings the #14 3GT Racing Lexus RC F GT3 to the second place. His co-driver was Dominik Baumann. Andy Lally and John Potter completed the GTD podium in the #44 Magnus Racing’s Audi R8 LMS.
