Acura wins the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The fourth round of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has Acura as the naming sponsor and two Acura ARX-05 prototypes finished the race in the first two places.
Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor secured a pole position in the #7 car and converted it into their first joint victory after 125 laps of racing at the 2.4-mile circuit in Lexington, Ohio. Their teammates Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron finished second in the #6 car, 8.464 seconds behind the winners. Oliver Jarvis and Tristan Nunez scored the maiden podium for Mazda Team Joest in the #77 Mazda RT24-P.
The victory in GTLM class goes to Laurens Vanthoor and Earl Bamber in the #912 Porsche 911 RSR. They defeated the #25 BMW M8 GTE, driven by Connor de Phillippi and Alexander Sims, by just 1.673 seconds.
