IMSA: Detroit's victory for Action Express Racing's #31 Cadillac
Action Express Racing’s Eric Curran and Felipe Nasr scored their first win together in the #31 Cadillac DPi-V.R today in the Detroit Grand Prix, the fifth round of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. After completing 68 laps at Belle Isle street circuit, they defeated two Team Penske crews in Acura prototypes.
Ricky Taylor in the #7 Acura crossed the finish line just one second behind Felipe Nasr. Taylor’s co-driver was Helio Castroneves. Dane Cameron and Juan Pablo Montoya finished third in the #6 Acura DPi, fourteen seconds behind the winners.
The victory in GTD class went to Mario Farnbacher and Katherine Legge in the #86 Acura NSX GT3 of Meyer Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian. Farnbacher crossed the finish line nine seconds ahead of teammate Lawson Aschenbach in the #93 Acura. The other driver in the #93 car was Justin Marks. Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers completed the GTD class podium in the #48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
GTLM class cars didn’t participate in Detroit’s race. The next round of the 2018 IMSA SportsCar Championship is the Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International, scheduled for July 1.
