Young Brits triumphed in GP3 Series races in Austria
Two young Brits, both drivers of ART Grand Prix team, triumphed in GP3 Series races at Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, in the third round of the 2018 season. On Saturday, Callum Ilott converted pole position into his second win in the rookie season. On Sunday, Jake Hughes scored his first GP3 win this year and the third in a career.
In the first race, Leonardo Pulcini (Campos Racing) and Alessio Lorandi (Trident) completed a podium. In the second race, Pulcini was on the podium again after finishing third, behind Pedro Piquet (Trident).
After three rounds and six races, Ilott took the championship lead with 69 points, six more than previous leader Anthoine Hubert. Leonardo Pulcini, who scored two podiums at Red Bull Ring, is third in the championship with 61 points.
GP3 Series season will continue with the third racing weekend in a row next Saturday and Sunday at Silverstone, as a part of the support programme for the F1 British Grand Prix.
