Formula E - Rome ePrix: Sam Bird flew to his second win of the season
Sam Bird (DS Virgin Racing) has won the Rome ePrix, the seventh race of the 2017-2018 FIA Formula E Championship. A victory on the streets of the Italian capital is the second for Bird in this season and his seventh win in Formula E career.
After 33 laps, Bird triumphed ahead of reigning champion Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler) and Andre Lotterer (Teechetah). Jean-Eric Vergne (Techeetach), who is leading in the championship, finished the race in the fifth place, behind Daniel Abt (Audi). A pole-sitter Felix Rosenqvist (Mahindra Racing) crashed out while he was leading.
Other point scorers in Rome are Sebastien Buemi (Renault e.dams, 6th), Jerome d’Ambrosio (Dragon Racing, 7th), Maro Engel (Venturi, 8th), Mitch Evans (Jaguar, 9th) and Edoardo Mortara (Venturi, 10th).
The next round of the Formula E Championship is scheduled for April 28 on the streets of Paris, France.
