Maiden Formula 3 victory for Mick Schumacher at Spa
Jehan Daruvala (Carlin), Daniel Ticktum (Motopark) and Mick Schumacher (Prema Theodore Racing) are the race winners in three races of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship meeting at Spa-Francorchamps, the fifth round of the 2018 season.
For Daruvala, it’s the first win of the season and his second F3 win in a career. Ticktum has won for the third time this year and he took the championship lead before losing it after the third race. For Mick Schumacher, the triumph in Sunday’s race at the iconic Grand Prix circuit was his first in Formula 3 career.
The New Zealander Marcus Armstrong (Prema Theodore Racing), who recorded DNF in Race 1, sixth place in Race 2 and third place in Race 3, is the championship leader after five rounds and fifteen races, having collected just one point more (154:153) than Dan Ticktum.
In Race 1, Daruvala was sharing a podium with Alex Palou (Hitech) and Ralf Aron (Prema Theodore Racing). In the second race, Ticktum won ahead of Fabio Scherer (Motopark) and Jehan Daruvala. In the final race of the weekend, Mick Schumacher has won ahead of teammates Robert Shwartzman and Marcus Armstrong.
The next F3 Europe’s round is scheduled for August 18-19 at Silverstone, as a support programme to FIA WEC race.
