Artem Markelov wins Formula 2 race at the streets of Monte Carlo
Artem Markelov (Russian Time) wins the Formula 2 race at the streets of Monte-Carlo. The Russian driver brings the #1 car to his second win of the season in the FIA Formula 2 Championship after starting the race third on the grid. Markelov inherited a lead after two leaders Alex Albon and Nyck de Vries crashed.
After that, Markelov dominated in the 42-lap Feature race and crossed the finish line with 10.7 sec advantage over Sean Gelael (Pertamina Theodore Prema Racing). Roberto Merhi (MP Motorsport) completed a podium, crossing the finish line about five seconds behind Gelael. Both for Gelael and Merhi this is the first podium result in 2018.
The other point-scorers are Louis Deletraz (4th, Charouz Racing System), Arjun Maini (5th, Trident), Lando Norris (6th, Carlin), Jack Aitken (7th, ART Grand Prix), Antonio Fuoco (8th, Charouz), Nicholas Latifi (9th, DAMS) and Nirei Fukuzumi (10th, Arden). It’s interesting that nine teams have their representatives in the Top 10.
Lando Norris remains in the championship lead after seven races. One more F2 race in Monaco is scheduled for tomorrow.
