Formula 2: Season opening victory for rookie Lando Norris, 1-2 for Carlin
The last year’s FIA Formula 3 European champion Lando Norris started his Formula 2 Championship campaign with a dominant performance at Bahrain International Circuit, securing a pole position and winning the first race of the weekend.
His teammate Sergio Sette Camara finished second to secure the 1-2 triumph for Carlin in the team’s first race in Formula 2. Norris scored a dominant victory with a 7.6sec advantage while Camara was fighting for P2 until the last lap, beating Artem Markelov (Russian Time) by just 0.2 seconds. Markelov recovered from a problematic start of the race, after an engine of his car stalled on the grid and he started from the pits.
Alex Albon (DAMS) finished in the fourth place, ahead of George Russell (ART Grand Prix). Nyck De Vries (Prema Theodore Racing), Sean Gelael (Prema Theodore), Maxi Gunther (Arden), Jack Aitken (ART Grand Prix) and Ralph Boschung (MP Motorsport) completed the top 10.
