Canadian pole position and new track record for Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel (Scuderia Ferrari) secured a pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix tomorrow, setting a new track record today in a qualifying session at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Vettel’s fastest time was 1.10.764, what was 0.093 seconds faster than Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes). It’s the 54th pole position in Vettel’s F1 career.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who was the fastest driver in all three practice sessions, will start from P3 tomorrow, sharing the second row with Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) and Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) will share the third row.

Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), Esteban Ocon (Force India), Carlos Sainz Jr (Renault) and Sergio Perez (Force India) completed the top 10 in qualifying. Fernando Alonso (McLaren) will start his 300th Grand Prix race from 14th place.
