DTM at Lausitzring: Mortara's first victory with Mercedes
Edoardo Mortara wins the action-packed Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Saturday’s race at Lausitzring. It’s his ninth DTM victory in a career and the first since he joined Mercedes ahead of last season.
The Swiss-Italian driver in the #48 Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM defeated two BMW drivers Timo Glock and Philipp Eng. The pole-sitter Lucas Auer (Mercedes) finished in the fourth place.
The race was marked by two great accidents which cut off four Audi cars from the field. First, Jamie Green crashed into the back of stalled Nico Muller’s car immediately after the start. After the race was restarted, Loic Duval and Rene Rast had a contact which sent Rast’s car into the grass, where he rolled over. The #33 car was destroyed but the defending champion, fortunately, walked away unscathed.
One more race at Lausitzring is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
