1-2 for Brits in DTM's second race at Brands Hatch
Paul di Resta wins the second race of the DTM weekend at Brands Hatch, in the DTM’s return to the iconic British race track for the first time since 2013. It’s the second win for Di Resta this season, tenth DTM victory in a career and his third DTM victory at Brands Hatch. He previously won there in 2009 and 2010.
Today, the driver of the #3 Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM defeated championship leader and pole-sitter Gary Paffett in the #2 Mercedes, who finished second and extended his lead in the points after six events in 2018. The last year’s champion Rene Rast finished third place in the #33 Audi RS5 DTM.
Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes) started from P3 and finished fourth, ahead of Marco Wittmann (BMW) and Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), Philipp Eng (BMW), Lucas Auer (Mercedes), Dani Juncadella (Mercedes) and Nico Muller (Audi) completed the top 10.
Paffett is the championship leader with 177 points on his account, 29 more than second-placed Di Resta. Wittmann and Auer are sharing the third place with 110 points. The next DTM round is scheduled for August 25-26 at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy.
