Juncadella's maiden victory in DTM's return to Brands Hatch
The Spanish driver Daniel Juncadella scored his maiden DTM victory today in the first race of DTM meeting at Brands Hatch, the sixth round of the 2018 season. The race marked DTM’s return to the UK for the first time since 2013.
Dani Juncadella started the race from pole in the #23 Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM, what was his second DTM pole in a career. He converted the best starting position into a victory, ahead of Augusto Farfus (BMW) and Lucas Auer (Mercedes).
Juncadella lost a lead at the start, dropping to P3 behind Lucas Auer and Rene Rast. Rast pitted at the end of the opening lap so Juncadella fought for the lead against Mercedes teammate. Juncadella pitted at the end of lap seven, taking the lead two laps later when Auer pitted. Farfus also made it past Auer and after that, the top 3 positions remained unchanged.
Rene Rast finished fourth, ahead of Philipp Eng. The championship leader Paffett finished in the sixth place. Pascal Wehrlein, Edo Mortara, Marco Wittmann and Mike Rockenfeller completed the top 10.
