Double victory for Action Express Racing at Daytona 24 Hours
Action Express Racing scores 1-2 victory at Daytona 24 Hours, the opening round of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The winners are Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and Filipe Albuquerque in the #5 Cadillac DPi-V.R, beating teammates Eric Curran, Mike Conway, Felipe Nasr and Stuart Middleton in the #31 Cadillac. The #5 crew completed 808 laps on the 3.56-mile long circuit, breaking a previous record of 762 laps from 1992.
The #54 Oreca LMP2 of CORE Autosport finished in the third place, driven by Jon Bennett, Colin Braun, Romain Dumas and Loic Duval.
United Autosports took fourth place with the #32 Ligier JS P217, driven by Bruno Senna, Paul di Resta, Will Owen and Hugo de Sadeleer. The Jackie Chan DC Racing’s #78 Oreca completed Top 5, driven by Alex Brundle, Ho-Pin Tung, Ferdinand Habsburg and Antonio Felix da Costa.
1-2 for Chip Ganassi Racing’s Fords in GTLM class
Chip Ganassi Racing also scores a 1-2 victory with two Ford GTs in the GTLM class. The winners in the #67 Ford GT are Ryan Briscoe, Richard Westbrook and Scott Dixon. The #66 Ford GT finished second, driven by Joey Hand, Dirk Muller and Sebastien Bourdais.
The #3 Corvette C7.R of Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Mike Rockenfeller finished in the third place, two laps behind winners and one lap ahead of the #4 Corvette of Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fassler.
GTD class win for Grasser Racing Team’s Lamborghini
The GTD class victory went to #11 Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3, driven by Mirko Bortolotti, Franck Perera, Rolf Ineichen and Rik Breukers.
The GTD podium has been completed by the #86 Michael Shank Racing Acura crew (Alvaro Parente, Katherine Legge, AJ Allmendinger and Trent Hindman) and the #48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini crew (Bryan Sellers, Madison Snow, Andrea Caldarelli and Bryce Miller).
