Rob Huff came to Macau to make a history and he did it! The British driver has won the Main race of the WTCC weekend at Macau and scored the record-breaking ninth victory at the famous Macau Guia street circuit.
Starting from pole in the #12 Citroen C-Elysee of ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport, Huff dominated in the wet race at 6.120-kilometre track to take his first WTCC win this season. He won by an impressive 8.142 seconds ahead of Norbert Michelisz (Honda). The second place for the Hungarian allowed him to close a gap behind championship leader Thed Björk (Volvo) ahead of season’s finale in Qatar on December 1.
Björk finished fifth in the Main race. Tom Chilton finished third in the #3 Sebastien Loeb Racing Citroen, taking the last podium spot on the last lap from Esteban Guerrieri (Honda).
Tom Coronel (ROAL Motorsport, Chevrolet), Mehdi Bennani (Sebastien Loeb Racing, Citroen), Kevin Gleason (RC Motorsport, Lada), Nestor Girolami (Volvo) and Zsolt David Szabo (Zengő Motorsport Honda) rounded out the top 10.
The season’s finale will take place at Losail International Circuit on December 1. Thed Björk is entering the final two races with 6.5 points more on his account than Norbert Michelisz. With 60 points up for grabs, seven drivers are still in mathematical contention for the world title.
