V8 Supercars: McLaughlin converts pole number 5 into victory number 3

Scott McLaughlin (DJR Team Penske) brings his #17 Ford Falcon to third win of the season at the Winton Motor Raceway today. McLaughlin started from pole for the fifth time this season and converts it to another victory.

He crossed the finish line with 1.6242 seconds advantage over #88 Red Bull Holden Commodore of Jamie Whincup. The championship leader Fabian Coulthard earned one more podium for Penske’s squad, finishing in the third place less than a second behind Whincup’s back.

After 40 laps at 3-km circuit, David Reynolds and Will Davison completed the top 5. Craig Lowndes was sixth, followed by Garth Tander, Shane van Gisbergen, Mark Winterbottom and Nick Percat. The race was the V8 Supercar solo-debut for James Golding in the #31 Holden of the Wilson Security Racing GRM. He started 18th and finished 17th.
