Martin Truex Jr. is the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion. The 37-year-old driver of the #78 Furniture Row Toyota Camry ended a fantastic season with his 8th win by winning the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Truex Jr captured his first Cup Series in the Championship 4 round title against three former champions, beating Kyle Busch (2nd), Kevin Harvick (4th) and Brad Keselowski (7th).
After winning seven races during the season and being dominant on 1.5-mile tracks, Truex entered the final race as the favorite. He proved his status and won the race, crossing the finish line 0.681 seconds ahead of #18 Toyota of Kyle Busch. Truex Jr was in the lead for 78 (of 267) laps. Kyle Larson led most laps (143) to finish in the third place.
