George Russell is the 2017 GP3 Series champion
George Russell (ART Grand Prix) secured the 2017 GP3 Series championship title with two strong finishes in the penultimate round at Jerez Circuit, collecting enough points to celebrate a title ahead of season’s finale at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit in November. Russell’s team also secured a title among GP3 teams, defending last year’s trophy.

The 19-year-old British driver of the #3 Dallara-Mecachrome was second in Saturday’s race at Jerez and fifth in Sunday’s race. The race winners were Nirei Fukuzumi (ART Grand Prix) on Saturday and Alessio Lorandi (DAMS) on Sunday.
Ahead of two races in Abu Dhabi, Russell has 50-point advantage over his teammate Jack Aitken, who finished 3rd and 7th in Jerez.
