Maiden GP3 Series victory for Arjun Maini
The Indian driver Arjun Maini claims his maiden GP3 Series victory today at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in the second race of the season-opening weekend. The 19-year-old driver of Jenzer Motorsport wins ahead of Trident’s Dorian Boccolacci and his teammate Alessio Lorandi.
Maini had the best start, jumping from P2 into the lead, followed by Boccolacci who started from P3. Maini managed to defend his lead against Boccolacci who was using DRS few times but it didn’t help him. After those attacks, Maini comfortably extend a lead to six seconds until the end of the race.
Behind two race leaders, polesitter Raoul Hyman was losing one by one position, finishing in the seventh place at the end. Drivers who passed by him were Lorandi, Anthoine Hubert (4th), George Russell (5th) and yesterday’s winner Nirei Fukuzumi (6th).
