Formula V8 at COTA: Third season's win for Rene Binder
Rene Binder (Lotus) captured his third season’s win in the first race of the World Series Formula V8 3.5 weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
After securing pole position, Binder led from start to finish and also set the fastest lap of the race. He was joined on the podium by Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing by AVF) and championship leader Pietro Fittipaldi (Lotus). The fourth-placed Alex Palou (Teo Martin Motorsports) was the best rookie. In Race 2, Palou will start from pole.
Fittipaldi remains championship leader after fifteen races with 223 points on his account. Matevos Isaakyan, who finished fifth in the first race, is second in the championship standings with 203 points.
