Formula V8: First win of the season for Egor Orudzhev
Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing with AVF) scores his first win of the season today in the fifth round of the World Series Formula V8 3.5 at Motorland Aragon in Spain. The Russian driver was leading from start to finish after a pole-sitter Pietro Fittipaldi crashed out in the opening lap, following a contact with Konstantin Tereschenko.
The Safety car was deployed following the opening-lap incident After a restart, Orudzhev remained in the lead and built up his advantage to more than thirteen seconds ahead of second-placed teammate Matevos Isaakyan. Alfonso Celis Jr (Fortec Motorsports) grabbed the third podium spot in the last lap, stealing it from Roy Nissany (RP Motorsport). The championship leader Rene Binder (Lotus) finished in the fifth place, extending his lead ahead of teammate Fittipaldi.
One more race at Motorland Aragon is scheduled for tomorrow 13.50 local time.
