Charles Leclerc is the 2017 Formula 2 Champion
Charles Leclerc (Prema Powerteam) confirmed his domination in the 2017 Formula 2 Championship by scoring his sixth win of the season in the first race of the penultimate round at Jerez Circuit.
That victory secured him a championship title with three more races on a schedule. The 19-year-old driver from Monaco added the second consecutive championship title to his account, after he won the GP3 Series in 2016.
In the first race at Jerez, Leclerc started from pole for the eighth time this season, converting in into his sixth win. Oliver Rowland (DAMS) and Antonio Fuoco (Prema) completed a podium.
In the second race, on Sunday, Artem Markelov (Russian Time) scored his fourth win of the season, increasing a gap behind second-placed driver in the championship Oliver Rowland, who was third in the second race. Nicholas Latifi made it a double podium, finishing in the second place.
