Ferrari Challenge North America at Laguna Seca - Day 1 recap
The 2017 Ferrari Challenge North America season kicked-off with two races at Laguna Seca where the all-new 488 Challenge race car was introduced.
Trofeo Pirelli / Trofeo Pirelli 458 EVO
In the first race of the day Peter Ludwig was able to win despite two caution periods. Martin Fuentes gave his best to overtake Ludwig but had to settle for the 2nd position, leaving Cooper McNeill in 3rd place. In the Trofeo Pirelli 458 EVO class, Joseph Rubbo took charge of the race right from the off and scored a victory, followed home by Naveen Rao and John Boyd.

In the second race of the day, Marc Muzzo started from pole position but soon dropped down. Brent Holden won the race after the great battle with Jean-Claude Saada while Muzzo completed the podium in Trofeo Pirelli AM class. In Copa Shell, Barry Zekelman and Osvaldo Gaio held a comfortable lead over the rest of the grid. It was an impressive performance by Gaio who was able to finish on the podium in his first ever Challenge race
In the competition for the Ladies Cup between Lisa Clark and Debra Palermo – Lisa edged out Debra after close competition throughout the race.
