Ferrari Challenge Europe, Valencia - Day 1 recap
The 2017 Ferrari Challenge Europe kicked-off this weekend at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia with the wins of Fabio Leimer, Martin Nelson, and Johnny Laursen.
Trofeo Pirelli
Fabio Leimer probably a bit suprisingly won the race in the series’ main class. The former GP3 Series champion was able to resist all attempts of his rivals and won the race with margin of almost three seconds to Philipp Baron. The reigning champion Bjorn Grossmann completed the podium in the season-opening race.
Trofeo Pirelli AM
In the AM class experienced Martin Nelson battled in the few opening laps with a rookie Chris Froggatt. The Swedish driver soon profited from the mistake made by his younger rival and opened the season with a comfortable victory. The third place went to Jens Liebhauser.
Coppa Shell
Former European Le Mans Series champion dominated the Coppa Shell class race at Circuit Ricardo Tormo and easily took the chequered flag. Rick Lovat finished 2nd after resisting Eric Cheung attacks late in the race.
Manuela Gostner won the Ladies Cup on the debut of the 488 Challenge.
