British GT: Griffin and Cameron stripped of victory at Rockingham
Matt Griffin and Duncan Cameron are supposed to be the winners of the British GT Championship race at Rockingham Motor Speedway but MSA officials thought different. A duo in Spirit of Race #21 Ferrari 488 GTE crossed the finish line in front of Team Parker Racing’s Seb Morris and Rick Parfitt in the #31 Bentley Continental GT3 but post-race 26-second penalty for the #21 crew changed an order. The #21 crew was found to have gained an unfair advantage during the race.
In a close fight for the third spot on a podium, drag race on the finish line brought a podium to Jack Mitchell and James Littlejohn who were driving MacMillan AMR’s #24 Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Two Barwell Motorsport’s Lamborghini Huracans finished fourth and fifth, driven by Phil Keen/Jon Minshaw (#33) and Sam Tordoff/Liam Griffin (#6).
The GT4 class winners are Stuart Middleton and William Tregurtha in the #55 HHC Motorsport’s Ginetta G55. Garage 59’s #100 McLaren 570S GT4, driven by Sandy Mitchell and Ciaran Haggerty, finished in the second place. Optimum Motorsport’s Graham Johnson and Mike Robinson climbed to the third podium spot in the GT4 class.
The next BGT round is the Snetterton 300 on May 27-28.
