NASCAR Sprint Cup: Kyle Larson wins Pure Michigan 400
Kyle Larson wins Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway. For the driver of the #42 Chip Ganassi Racing’s Chevrolet SS it is maiden Sprint Cup victory in a career, after he scored four wins in the Nationwide/Xfinity Series and two wins in the Truck Series. Larson became the 13th different winner this year in the Sprint Cup Series and he is now among 16 drivers who could enter the 16-car field in the Chase.
Larson won the race after he took the lead from Chase Elliott on a restart with 10 laps to go. Brad Keselowski finished third, ahead of Ryan Blaney and Sprint Cup Series points leader Kevin Harvick. The pole-sitter Joey Logano finished 10th. Larson led a race-high 41 laps, followed by Jimmie Johnson, who led 37 laps and finished sixth.
The next Sprint Cup Series race would be the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, September 4.
