Japanese Super GT - Thailand: First win for Sekiguchi and Kunimoto

Yuhi Sekiguchi and Yuji Kunimoto won their first race in 2016 season of the Japanese Super GT Series, today at Chang International Circuit in Thailand. The duo in the #19 WedsSport Advan Lexus RC F started from pole and takes the victory ahead of Hideki Mutoh and Tadasuke Makino in the #15 Drago Modulo Honda NSX Concept-GT. Kazuya Oshima and Andrea Caldarelli completed the podium in GT500 class, in the #6 Wako’s Lexus RC F.

The winners of GT300 class are Takeshi Tsuchiya and Takamitsu Matsui in the #25 VivaC Toyota 86 MC. Jann Mardenborough crossed the finish line with a one second gap, in the #3 B-Max NDDP Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3, which he shared with Kazuki Hoshino. The #55 ARTA BMW M6 GT3 finished third, driven by Shinichi Takagi and Takashi Kobayashi.

Nissan’s Tsugio Matsuda and Ronnie Quintarelli, who didn’t finish Thailand’s race after an accident, are still the championship leaders. They have 56 points, ten more than Oshima and Caldarelli. In GT300 class, today’s winners Tsuchiya and Matsui are in the lead with five-point gap over Mardenborough and Hoshino. One more round are in the calendar, the double-header event at Twin Ring Motegi on November 11-13.
