Lance Stroll is the new Formula 3 champion!
Lance Stroll is the new FIA European Formula 3 champion! The Canadian driver of Prema Powerteam was dominant during the weekend at Imola Circuit and secured the title four races before the end of the season.
In the first race of the weekend, rookie Niko Kari (Motopark) scored his maiden F3 victory after being faster than Lance Stroll, who started from pole position and led most of the race, and anoher Motopark driver, Joel Eriksson.
In the second race of the weekend, Stroll crowned himself early as the new FIA Formula 3 European Champion. The 17-year-old development driver of the Williams Formula 1 team scored a lights-to-flag victory, despite three safety car interventions in the race. Joel Eriksson confirmed fine form finishing second in the race while George Russell (Hitech GP) took the third place.
Finally, in the last race of the weekend the Canadian scored another easy win, 11th of the season. Russell moved up one place and finished as a runner-up in race 3 with Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing) completed the podium.

The last round of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship will be held at Hockenheim, October 14-16.
