European Le Mans Series: Second win in a row for Thiriet by TDS Racing
Thiriet by TDS Racing scored second consecutive victory in the 2016 European Le Mans Series. After winning at Imola in May, the #46 Oreca 05 (Nissan) prototype was the fastest again today at Red Bull Ring, in the third round of the championship. The winning drivers were again Pierre Thiriet, Ryo Hirakawa and Mathias Beche.
After four hours of racing, the #46 crew rounded 160 laps at the Austrian Grand Prix circuit. Only two more crews were in the same lap – the #33 Eurasia Motorsport and #38 G-Drive Racing. The #33 car were driven by Tristan Gommendy, Kevin Pu Jun Jin and Nick de Bruijn, while the drivers of the #38 car were Simon Dolan, Giedo van der Garde and Harry Tincknell.
Ninth overall and the winners of the LMP3 class were David Hallyday, Dino Lunardi and David Droux in the #19 Duqueine Engineering Ligier JS P3 (Nissan). LMP3 podium was completed by the United Autosports #2 crew and 360 Racing #6 crew.
In the GTE class, the winning drivers were Rory Butcher, Andrea Bertolini and Robert Smith in the #66 JMW Motorsport’s Ferrari F458 Italia. Two more Ferraris were classified second and third in the GTE class. The second place was taken by #51 AF Corse crew, ahead of #56 AT Racing’s squad.
