DTM: Wickens heads Mercedes' 1-2-3-4 at Moscow Raceway

Robert Wickens is the winner of the DTM race 1 at Moscow Raceway after he was the leanest in the hard conditions at Moscow Raceway. This is the second victory of the season for the Canadian driver who remained in the battle for the 2016 title.

Mercedes driver Gary Paffett won the pole position for the first race at Moscow Raceway after beating other three Mercedes drivers, Robert Wickens, Paul Di Resta and Maximilian Gotz, in qualifying session. Mattias Ekstrom was the best-placed Audi driver in fifth while Maxime Martin was the fastest BMW driver in sixth position.

The race has started under the safety car because of the heavy rain, so the drivers had just a little more than 30 minutes for racing in the pretty hard conditions. Wickens took the lead in lap 8 while Paffett dropped to the third afte he made a mistake and allowed Di Resta to overtkae him, too. Ekstrom put Gotz under huge pressure in the battle for the fourth place while Jamie Green did a great job moving up to the eigth.

In the last 10 minutes or so, the visibility became a slightly better but nobody wanted to risk too much and the standings at the top remained unchanged until the end. Wickens finished the race almost 11 seconds ahead of Di Resta while Paffett was 12.2s behind.
