2015 V8 Supercars Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint
The latest race in this year’s V8 Supercars championship was the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint which was held on 27-29 March. The venue was circuit at Symmons Plains which is 2.4 kilometers long and with two long straights for top speed runs. As any V8 Supercars event, this one was also very interesting with lot other races held during the weekend and many interesting things to see on and off the track. Besides V8 Supercars battles there was a Touring cars, Sports GT and Aussie Racing cars series races.

The Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint event consisted from two 60 kilometre races on Saturday and one 200 kilometre feature race on Sunday. The first two races are sprint format and Sunday race is full one and most interesting. The practice sessions was scheduled for Friday with two hour long sessions. The third practice session was Saturday morning following two qualifying sessions for two after noon races. During the practice, there was a small surprise when Mercedes E Classe from Erebus Motorsport V8 was fastest on two sessions. However, during the qualifying sessions Red Bull Racing Australia driver, Craig Lowndes, was fastest and secure himself two pole positions for two Saturday sprint races.

Since the pole position is very important during the sprint races, Craig Lowndes was trying hard to keep his advantage, succeeded and won two of Sundays sprint races with fast and clean driving from beginning to the end. In the first race, second was Ford driver Mark Winterbottom and the third was James Courtney. The Jamie Whincup as star racer and active V8 Supercars champion was seventh. However, in the second race of the day, Whincup was second and James Courtney again was third.

The noon on Sunday was time for final qualifying session before the last race of the event and Craig Lowndes was again the fastest in front of the Whincup and David Reynolds. However, he did not manage to keep his position and after the 200 kilometers of racing and over an hour of intense racing, he finished sixth place. The winner of race was experienced Jamie Whincup in Holden in front of young and perspective Chaz Mostert in Ford and Shane van Gisbergen on third place. Even if the Whincup won the last race, the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint was Craig Lowndes event since he was dominant and fastest during the most of the races and qualifying sessions.
