The hardware stays the same – Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (internal designation 991 GT3 Cup) factory prepared race car for cup championships all over the world. That means that every car has the same specifications which are 3.8 liters naturally aspirated flat six engine, 460 bhp, six speed sequential transmission, ceramic brakes and weight of just 1175 kg. Although the 460 bhp does not sounds like enormous power for a race car, it is quite enough to launch the 991 GT3 Cup all the way to 300 km/h mark. The car itself debuted for 2013 season and it has not changed for 2015. However, we were suprised to find out that the Porsche already sold over 2300 examples of this race car to race teams and privateers all over the world. The price for entering the world of Porsche racing is maybe high (181.000 euros) but you will get one of the best race cars in the world and finely tuned race machine. So it would be more than interesting to follow 2015 Porsche Mobile 1 Supercup race caravan and see which driver and which race team are better in next season. Last years championship is won by Australian Earl Bamber and second was young and promising Polish driver Jakub “Kuba“ Giermaziak who won more races than Bamber but Earls consisted driving give him points advantage. So in 2015, we could expect that Kuba Giermaziak is going for championship title this season. The Polish driver already showed that he is good enough to be champion but we must not forget the rest of the pack. Beside the Earl Bumber who will try hard to defend his title, there is the two more drivers that could be candidates for 2015 Porsche Mobile 1 Supercup title. First is 2013 Porsche Supecup champion, Danish driver Nikki Thim and second is experienced German driving ace Michael Ammermüller who also races in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. Those drivers are experienced, fast, consistent and very familiar with the car and the tracks. However, in Porsche Supercup there is always an element of surprise so even if we concentrate on these drivers there is always a chance that someone else would step up and take the championship title in series of exciting race finishes. So stay tuned for another season of top notch Porsche racing action.
