2015 Blancpain GT series season preview
Although the Blancpain Endurance series is only on the beginning of its fifth full season it is becoming a popular championship for endurance race fans. Also it is place to scout for young and promising names in this type of racing. For 2015 season, the Blancpain Endurance series is going to have only 5 events all that will be held in Europe. First event will be in Italy (Monza), then UK (Silverstone), then France (Paul Ricard) and Belgium (Spa) and Germany (Nürburgring). All races, except France and Belgium will be 3 hours long. The Paul Ricard race will be 1000 kilometers long and in Belgium the race will be 24 hours long. Basically, the season calendar is the same as in 2014 season. However, beside the endurance Series, the Swiss watchmaker Blancpain also sponsors the Blancpain Sprint Series, smaller scale championship which uses a FIA GT3 specification cars. This series in 2015 consist of seven events that are held in Europe and Asia. All of Blancpain Sprint series races are held on smaller venues France,Britain,Belgium,Russia, Portugal,Italy and Azerbejian. Some of the drivers from Sprint Series also compete in Endurance Series as well.
Young British driver James Nash after debut in Endurance Series last year will race again this year but in the Sprint Series. He will be driving Audi R8 LMS ultra of the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, the team with which he finished third in the 2014 Total 24 Hours of Spa.By the time this article is written, only Bentley Team M Sport had Bentley Team M-Sport announced its driver line-up for 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series, with Andy Soucek, Maxime Soulet and Maximilian Buhk. Although, the road version of Bentley Continental GT looks like big, heavy and comfortable highway cruiser, its racing sibling is very fast, nimble and competitive race car. But, will it be enogh to defeat a lest year’s championship winning Audi R8 LMS ultra? In 2014 Bentley finished second but will it be able to beat Audi this year and claim the 2015 Blancpain Endurance series championship? Don’t forget that there is some very serious competition in likes of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, BMW Z4 GT3 and fantastic McLaren MP4-12C GT3. Those cars are very fast and ready to battle for championship.It is safe that any and all of those machines have equal chance for title in 2015 Blancpain Endurance Season.
So, the 2015 season of Endurance Series starts on 12th of April in Monza and first race of Sprint Series starts on 6th of April in Circuit Paul Armagnac, Nogaro, France.
