2015 24 Hours of Le Mans preview

Greatest endurance race in the world the 24 Hours of Le Mans is going to be held on 13th and 14th of June 2015 and it is safe to say that it is going to be very interesting. The famous Circuit de la Sarthe will once again host the worlds most fastest and advanced race cars and be hot spot for all racing enthusiasts for 83rd time in its history. In the last few years, 24 Hours of Le Mans came under a lot of criticism after long streak of Audi wins. People started saying that races aren’t exciting enough, the rules must be changed and the winner is known before the race. However, that is not true. The racing is exciting as ever with top notch race cars on the grid, on track battles are full of suspense and drama and Audi’s wins are honest and fair. The key of Audi dominance is technology, preparations, race strategy and of course, luck. Other race teams understood that so in 2014 race, we witnessed a very interesting battle between Audi, Toyota and Porsche. Toyota and Porsche proved to be equally fast but eventaly Audi won with strategy and luck. Knowing that Toyota and Porsche (Le Mans record holder) have pretty high ambitions and goals, you can be sure that Audis job of winning in 2015 will be very very hard.

There is also news in lower, but not less interesting classes of LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am. Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 is a car to beat in 2015 and Chevrolet Corvette C7 R is a car that can do it. Chevrolet had big success with it C6 R racing program but C7 R still needs to prove itself. In LMGTE Am class, Aston Marting V8 Vantage is a target for competitors with Porsche 911 RSR close behind. The main news which will we will update in coming months are introduction of new Ford GT on 2015 Detroit car show. Ford made clear that it has plans to race the new sports car on Le Mans and that could happened this year. Looking at the specifications of GT it is clear that this car is going against Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 and Corvette C7 R.

On this year 24 Hours of Le Mans there will be automatic invitations. That means that the team who won last years event in each class are automatically invited to next years race. However, automatic invitation also covers the teams that won a 1st and 2nd place in European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and United SportsCar Championship which is a American equivalent. That rule insures that 24 Hours of Le Mans is congregation of best and fastest drivers,teams and cars that world racing scene has to offer which is a Circuit de la Sarthe tradition since the very beginning. So it is pretty sure that 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans will be one of most exciting race events of 2015.
